"One of the main reasons that I came to Iowa was that I had heard dental students have early clinical exposure. After talking with friends at other dental schools, I realized that I have more patient exposure and intensive rotations in each of the nine specialty areas than the majority of students at other dental schools. I have always been interested in Public Health and Iowa has a Dental Public Health Distinction track that allows me to learn from the country's top experts. Before starting dental school, a survey was sent out to match students with faculty mentors. I was lucky enough to be matched with Dr. Emily Lanzel. She went above and beyond in helping me adjust to dental school and she still continues to support me today."
