Department of Prosthodontics

One of twelve American Dental Association recognized dental specialties, prosthodontics helps patients deal with complications arising from having missing or broken down teeth, including but not limited to dentures, dental implants, and crowns.

Prosthodontists have extended training in areas of restorative dentistry that include dental implants for single or multiple teeth replacements, crowns, bridges, complete dentures, partial dentures, cosmetics, and facial birth developmental defects.

The University of Iowa Department of Prosthodontics' mission is to educate dental students, train specialists in prosthodontics, provide excellent patient care—whether in our faculty or student clinics—and to provide expertise in the field of prosthodontics for the state of Iowa and the world.
