Emilio Couso-Queiruga, a resident in periodontics, received the 2022 Mentor of the Year Award by students in the University of Iowa Dental Student Research Group.

Current student researchers nominated student sesearch mentors for Mentor of the Year awards. All student researchers voted on the nominations, and recipients of the award receive a plaque, and their name is added to a plaque in the Iowa Institute for Oral Health Research. 

Cousa-Queiruga was nominated by Cyrus Mansouri, who also presented the award to Couso-Queiruga, for mentoring, Alveolar Ridge Preservation Reduces the Need for Bone Augmentation Procedures. Couso-Queiruga also mentored two other projects that were presented at the 2022 Iowa Section of the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (AADOCR).
