Dr. Guzmán joined the Department of Operative Dentistry in 2001 after completing postdoctoral work at the College of Dentistry. She is a clinical professor in the Department of Operative Dentistry.
Drs. Sandra Guzman-Armstrong and Rodrigo Rocha Maia are co-directors of the Operative Dentistry Graduate Program.
Dr. Guzmán is the co-director of the Operative Dentistry Graduate Program. She also teaches in the Sophomore Esthetic Course and in the Junior Operative Seminars and Clinic, as well as first- and second-year dental student seminars.
Dr Guzmán is currently the co-director of the Operative Dentistry Graduate Program and her primary role is teaching the first-, second- and third-year Operative Dentistry residents. She also participates in the junior clinical and didactic operative clerkship as well as the cariology didactic component of freshman and sophomore years. She has her faculty patient practice two times weekly.

Dr. Guzmán is a current member of the American Dental Association, Academy of Dental Materials, the Academy of Operative Dentistry, the American and International Associations for Dental Research, the CAMBRA National and Regional Group, the American Dental Education Association, and the Hispanic Dental Association. She is the faculty advisor for the Student National Dental Association.
