Department of Oral Pathology, Radiology and Medicine
-- Pain Clinic (319) 335-9656

Note: The Oral Pathology, Radiology and Medicine Mucosal Disease Clinic is not an emergency clinic. If you have a toothache, please consult your local dentist.

This clinic specializes in pain not directly tooth-related in origin, including temporomandibular joint or jaw pain (TMJ) disorders, muscle pain, pain of vascular origin, and pain of neurologic origin.

A typical visit or series of visits will include a comprehensive history and physical examination of the head and neck, and may also include radiographs and laboratory studies. After a diagnosis has been established, appropriate treatment will follow.

Fees will depend on the treatment required. Treatment is usually covered by medical insurance.

Appointments may be made by phone Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. Phone (319) 335-9656. After you have made an appointment, a questionnaire will be mailed to you to obtain more information about your problem. Please complete and return these forms as soon as possible so they can be studied by the specialist who will be seeing you.
