He completed his certificate in prosthodontics in 2015 and his Masters in prosthodontics in 2016. He is currently a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Prosthodontics.

Dr. Holmes practiced general dentistry in Eldridge, Iowa, from 1978-1989. He became an adjunct faculty in the Department of Family Dentistry at Iowa during this time. After completing his specialty training in periodontics in 1991, Dr. Holmes became a group leader in Family Dentistry. In 1997, he joined the faculty at the University of Colorado where he served as chair of the Division of Comprehensive Care. In 2004, he returned to Iowa to accept the DEO position of the Department of Family Dentistry.

Dr. Kelly received his D.D.S. from the UI College of Dentistry in 1988 and his M.S. in pediatric dentistry from Iowa in 1990. He was in private practice from 1990-2015 and has also served as an adjunct faculty at the College of Dentistry since 1991. He is currently a visiting assistant professor.

In addition, he is a board-certified prosthodontist and is actively involved in patient care and teaching within the Department of Prosthodontics. He was a post-doctoral associate at the University of Miami after receiving his PhD in computer science from the Florida International University in 2008.
