Dental Science Building Transition Plan

Sequence 5 July 2014 - February 2015*

The Business Office, the patient representatives’ offices, OPRM faculty, staff and residents’ offices, Admissions Clinic, Oral Diagnosis Clinic, Radiology Clinic and OPRM faculty practice clinic will move in to their renovated facilities on the 3rd floor.

The Family Dentistry area will be under construction. The Pharmacy will move to the Private Dining Room on the 1st floor. Family Dentistry’s department office and DEO office will move to the old Clinic Administration area on the 2nd floor. Family Dentistry faculty practice will move to the 4th floor of the addition and the student clinic will move to the Operative/Preventive/Dental Hygiene clinic on the 2nd floor.

Since Family Dentistry students will occupy all available cubicles in the Operative/Preventive/Dental Hygiene clinic every day, D2 Operative/Preventive and D1 Preventive clinics will not be able to be accommodated in the combination of 2nd floor and 1st floor clinics. The current D2 schedule has half of the D2 class in clinic on Tuesday mornings and the other half on Thursday mornings. (10 D2 students from each half are assigned to the Radiology clinic.) To maintain operation of this clinic, 30 predoc cubicles will be reserved for both morning and afternoon sessions on Tuesday in the Periodontics and Prosthodontics clinic area. This will require the Periodontics and Prosthodontic clerkships to not schedule patients on Tuesday mornings. (D3 students are in lecture classes Tuesday afternoons.) It will also require the rescheduling of D2 Tuesday afternoon classes to Thursday morning.

D1 Preventive clinic will be scheduled on Thursday evenings in the 2nd floor Operative/Preventive/Dental Hygiene clinic.
