100% Research Assistant – Dental Research – Req #21001878

Participate and contribute to a growing research team committed to addressing biological questions about human development and health. Provide research assistance for research lab which focuses on the use of animal models to understand the genetic control of facial and dental development—in turn, contributing to a collective effort to better predict, diagnose, and treat human birth defects. Current work includes studying both mouse and zebrafish models of craniofacial disorders, including those impacting development of the face and teeth.  REQUIRES:  Bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular biology, anatomy and/or physiology, biochemistry, genetics, or equivalent; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.  Typically requires 6 months experience including: DNA Cloning, or PCR, or DNA/RNA isolations; and Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Desirable:  Experience with immunohistochemistry, tissue harvesting and embedding, paraffin section, and protein assays. Support the College of Dentistry’s technology systems and applications. This includes all vended or in-house written applications used for clinical operations, student instruction and research. The College of Dentistry’s clinical system includes all software applications (clinical information system, digital radiography, electronic health record, digital dentistry), all hardware (computers, peripherals, sensors), and data management (report creation and maintenance).
