Prior to coming to Iowa, Dr. Bohnenkamp was an associate professor in the Department of Comprehensive Dentistry and served as the director of the International Dentist Education Program from 2006-2013 at the University of Texas Health Science Center Dental School in San Antonio. From 2013-2017, Dr. Bohnenkamp was a full-time clinical associate professor in the Department of Prosthodontics at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry.
Dr. Bohnenkamp's primary teaching responsibilities in the Department of Family Dentistry include clinical supervision and evaluation of senior dental students in all phases of fixed, removable and implant prosthodontics and patient management.
Dr. Bohnenkamp's primary activities in the College of Dentistry faculty practice include the diagnosis and treatment of patients requiring fixed dental prostheses (crowns and bridges), removable partial dentures, and implants.
Dr. Bohnenkamp is the author of numerous manuscripts published in the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry and Compendium of Continuing Education in Dentistry. He authored Chapter 8: Patient Clinical Scenarios in the textbook entitled Removable Partial Dentures -- A Clinician's Guide in 2009 and a chapter entitled Removable Partial Dentures: Clinical Concepts in the 2014 Dental Clinics of North America.
As a board-certified prosthodontist and dental educator, Dr. Bohnenkamp has a special interest in writing about dental laboratory technology and the clinical treatment of patients.

Dr. Bohnenkamp is a member of the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) and these sections: Dental School Admissions Officers; Student Affairs and Financial Aid; Business and Financial Administration and Clinic Administration. He is also a member of the ADEA Special Interest Group on Foreign-Educated Dental Professionals.
He is a diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontists, a fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists, and an Ambassadors Club member of the American College of Prosthodontists Education Foundation.
