Simvastatin Implant Study

Objective: 

Determined the anti-inflammatory effect of Simvastatin when applied topically around implants with inflamed gums.

Recruitment Information: 

Subjects will be randomly placed in either the test group (where simvastatin gel will be applied topically in the gum tissue around the dental implant), or in the control group (where a gel with an inactive ingredient (placebo) will be applied).  After administration subjects will be asked to come in for recall visits next day,  1 week and 1 month after study treatment.

You may be eligible for this study if you are:

  • Are an adult between 18- 80 years of age
  • Have at least one implant
  • Inflamed gums
  • Have not been diagnosed with peri implantitis
  • Able to come for a 1 week and a 1 month follow up 

Subjects who qualify will be eligible for compensation.
