Dr. Spieker was in private practice from 1984-2002 and was also an adjunct faculty member at the University of Western Ontario. In 2002, she joined the College of Dentistry as an assistant professor in the Department of Oral Pathology, Radiology and Medicine. Dr. Spieker retired in 2015.
Dr. Spieker was a clinical instructor in the Oral Diagnosis Clinic. She also participated in treatment planning, ethics and quality assurance seminars.
Dr. Spieker was interested in submerged permanent teeth and more specifically, explored the success of interceptive treatment.
Dr. Spieker was a manuscript reviewer for the Journal of the Academy of General Dentistry. She was a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, the Canadian Dental Association, and the American Dental Education Association. She served on the Board of Directors for the Ontario Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Spieker also served as an on-site quality assurance reviewer for the Royal College of Dental Surgeons from 1997-2002.
