Dr. Staley joined the College of Dentistry in 1970. He is a professor in the Department of Orthodontics.
Dr. Staley teaches Orthodontic Theory, the Orthodontic Seminar, lectures in Growth and Development, is the director of the Orthodontic Laboratory, and participates in the resident orientation lectures and exercises.
Dr. Staley is an instructor in the orthodontic resident clinic and he participates in the faculty private practice.
Dr. Staley studies dento-facial growth, orthodontic diagnosis and treatment, and orthodontic materials testing related to enamel demineralization.

Dr. Staley is a member of the editorial board of Angle Orthodontist, a reviewer for American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, a board member of the College of Diplomates of the American Baord of Orthodontics Foundation, and a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the American Dental Education Association, the American Association for Dental Research, and the International College of Dentists.
