The Advanced Prosthodontics Program at The University of Iowa is designed to prepare dentists for clinical practice, teaching, and research within the specialty of prosthodontics. The program consists of two parts: a clinical specialty training program leading to a certificate in prosthodontics, and a graduate course of study leading to a Master of Science or PhD degree. All students are enrolled in the certificate program and may optionally pursue a graduate degree.
The program begins on or about July 1 and the minimum duration is 35 months. Normally, two students are admitted each year. The program may be modified to fulfill individual needs, goals, and interests, while still meeting requirements for the certificate and graduate degree.
The program is fully accredited by the Council on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association. Successful completion of the program will satisfy the formal training requirement for eligibility for the American Board of Prosthodontics certification examination.
