Department of Prosthodontics

The University of Iowa's College of Dentistry is presently conducting a search for a full-time Chair of the Department of Prosthodontics. This is a tenure-track position with major responsibilities: providing strong departmental leadership, facilitating faculty development and mentoring, contributing to the collegiate leadership team, and maintaining intra-collegiate and university collaborations. The position is available July 1, 2012; screening begins immediately. Applicants must have: DDS/DMD from an ADA-accredited dental school or foreign equivalent; completed an ADA-accredited advanced training program in Prosthodontics; Diplomate status of the American Board of Prosthodontics or be educationally qualified; a substantial record of scholarship; evidence of effective teaching; relevant administrative experience; ability to actively participate in a clinical practice; and demonstrated leadership ability through management of a diverse workforce. Desirable qualifications include: extensive clinical experience; PhD in a relevant field; and academic credentials consistent with tenured appointment at the rank of Professor. Department of Operative Dentistry

The University of Iowa's College of Dentistry is conducting a search for the Department Executive Officer for the Department of Operative Dentistry. This is a full-time tenure-track position. Major responsibilities include strong leadership and guidance for the department, including but not limited to: mentoring faculty and students; implementing faculty recruitment and retention strategies; providing faculty development opportunities; collaborating effectively with collegiate administration, faculty and staff; teaching at the graduate and pre-doctoral level; and actively participating as a clinician in the department's faculty practice. The position is available July 1, 2011; screening begins immediately. Applicants must have: DDS/DMD degree or foreign equivalent; completion of an advanced degree-based graduate training program in Operative Dentistry, Restorative Dentistry, or related field; a substantial record of scholarship; evidence of teaching experience; and demonstrated experience working effectively in a diverse environment. Preference will be given to applicants with dental and/or graduate degree from an ADA-accredited institution. Desirable qualifications include relevant administrative experience and extensive clinical experience. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Department of Operative Dentistry

The University of Iowa's College of Dentistry is conducting a search for a full-time clinical or tenure-track faculty member in the Department of Operative Dentistry. Major responsibilities include: Teaching pre-doctoral and post-doctoral Operative Dentistry and supervising student research. Other responsibilities include mentoring junior faculty, collaboration in research and participation in the intramural private practice. The position is available January 1, 2011; screening begins immediately. Applicants must have: DDS/DMD or equivalent, and by the time of appointment, an MS or advanced clinical training in Operative/Restorative Dentistry from an ADA-accredited institution; teaching and research experience; and previous experience mentoring pre-doctoral or graduate students. Desirable qualifications include: advanced training in esthetic dentistry; integration of prevention and minimally invasive dentistry in teaching and clinical practice; course director or other administrative experience; and, for tenure-track applicants, a record of research accomplishments and publications in peer reviewed journals.
