Brief Professional Resume:

Dr. Weistroffer joined The University of Iowa College of Dentistry in July 2007 as a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Periodontics. While she was obtaining her MS in oral science and a certificate in periodontics, she was also a postdoctoral trainee (NRSA T32 grant) from July 2005-July 2007.

Teaching Activities: Dr. Weistroffer will be course director for the Periodontics Methods II (092:141) class. She will lecture in the periodontal curriculum for D1 and D3 students and also teach a periodontal resident implant literature review course and coordinate their current literature course.

Clinical Activities: She will be involved with the undergraduate periodontal clinic as well as the Department of Family Dentistry's Undergraduate Comprehensive Care program.

Research Activities: Dr. Weistroffer has studied the antimicrobial activity of cathelicidins against oral pathogens. She researched this topic as a part of the four-year Dental Research Award (DRA) program as a dental student and continued the research during her specialty training in the Department of Periodontics, and receipt of her master's degree in oral science.

National or International Professional Appointments or Activities: Dr. Weistroffer is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Periodontology, the Iowa Society of Periodontology, the Iowa Dental Association, and the District Dental Society.
