

Teaching Activities:
Dr. Leary is past director of the Case Analysis Seminar-AEGD Program. His
lecture topics have included Exam and Diagnosis of Complete Dentures; Prosthodontic Diagnosis; Prosthodontic
Treatment Planning; Prosthodontic/Periodontic Interrelationships; Restoration of the Endodontically Treated
Tooth; and Peer Review and Organized Dentistry.
Research Activities: Dr. Leary's research has included the effect of length and diameter on the strength of endodontically treated teeth; the effect of hydrostatic pressure during post cementation; and evaluating methods to remove cemented endodontic posts.
National or International Professional Appointments or Activities: Dr. Leary is a member of the American
Dental Education Association; the Dental Materials Group Chapter; the American/International Associations of Dental
Research; the American College of Dentists; the American College of Prosthodontists; the American Dental Association;
the Iowa Dental Association; the Southeast Iowa District Dental Society; and Psi Omega. He is a retired brigadier
general of the Iowa Army National Guard and is past state dental surgeon with the U.S. Army National Guard.
Dr. Leary is past president of the American College of Dentists, the Iowa State Dental Association, the Southeast Iowa
Distric Dental Society, and Omicron Kappa Upsilon. He is a Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy.
