Brief Professional Resume:

In 1999, after completing her B.A. and D.D.S. at Iowa, Dr. Lacey-Spector completed formal mini-residencies in oral surgery and oral medicine at Guy's Hospital in London, England. She then worked in general practice in her hometown, Fort Dodge, Iowa, prior to completing a fellowship in special patient care at Helen Hayes Hospital, West Haverstraw, New York in 2001. She then completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) program at Columbia University, New York. While teaching residents at Columbia University-New York Presbyterian Hospital, Dr. Lacey-Spector practiced in the Columbia University private faculty group practice. She also briefly practiced in suburban Chicago. Dr. Lacey-Spector joined the UI College of Dentistry in 2005. She is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Preventive & Community Dentistry.

Teaching Activities: Dr. Lacey-Spector is the director of the Geriatrics & Special Needs Program for fourth-year dental students and a co-director of the Geriatrics didactic course for third-year dental students. She presents various lectures and seminars to predoctoral and postdoctoral dental students as well as continuing education to dental professionals in the area of geriatrics and special needs. She provides clinical teaching to both predoctoral and postdoctoral students in the Special Care Clinic.

Clinical Activities: Dr. Lacey-Spector participates in the collegiate intramural practice as a general dentist.

Professional Organizations: American Dental Association, Iowa Dental Association, Special Care Dentistry Association, American Society for Geriatric Dentistry, American Academy of Dentistry for Persons with Disabilities, and the American Dental Education Association.
