Brief Professional Resume:
Dr. Humbert joined The University of Iowa College of Dentistry's Department of Periodontics as a clinical professor in 2004.
Prior to this he was assistant chairman, Department of Periodontics, at Offutt AFB, Nebraska (1985-1992); regional
consultant in periodontics for satellite AFB bases (1985-1999); associate professor at Creighton University Dental School
(1987-1989); associate professor in the Department of Periodontology at the University of Nebraska (1987-1992); associate
professor, School of Dental Hygiene, Midwestern University, Wichita Falls, Texas (1993-1999); chief, Department of Periodontics,
Sheppard AFB, Texas (1992-1999); clinical associate professor, University of Texas Health Science Center (1999-2004);
director of periodontics, AEGD II, and Dental Executive Committee member, Lackland AFB, Texas (1999-2004).
Teaching Activities:
Dr. Humbert was director of predoctoral periodontics at the University of Iowa College
of Dentistry November 2004 to June 2006.
He is responsible for additional lectures and seminars to senior dental students and periodontal
postgraduate students. Dr. Humbert assumed the postgraduate directorship on July
1, 2006.
Clinical Activities:
Dr. Humbert has clinic floor supervision for junior dental students and surgical floor
coverage for periodontal postgraduate students, including routine periodontal surgery, augmentation techniques, implants, and
IV sedation.
Research Activities:
He participates in clinical track research.
National or International Professional Appointments or Activities: Dr. Humbert is a member of the
American Dental Association, the American Academy of Periodontology, Midwest
Society of Periodontics, and
the American Board of Periodontology.
