Brief Professional Resume:

Dr. Elvers joined The University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 1996. He is director of clinics and an associate clinical professor in the Department of Oral Pathology, Radiology and Medicine.

Teaching Activities:  Dr. Elvers' teaching responsibilities include serving as course director for the Introduction to Quality Assurance course for junior dental students. He is also involved with lecturing to junior and senior dental students on HIPAA, patient management, risk management, and record keeping. He works with students in screening patients for admission. Dr. Elvers is involved with coordinating the dental hygiene program between Kirkwood Community College and the College of Dentistry. He is currently working collaboratively with others to introduce an electronic health record to the collegiate system.

Clinical Activities:  Dr. Elvers is involved with direct patient care.

Research Activities: Dr. Elvers's research includes a retrospective study of patients with trigeminal neuralgia. He has also been a clinical evaluator for developing computer-simulated hard tissue probing (Iowa Dental Surgical Simulation) and has provided a clinical demonstration of utilizing OSHA practice for an OSHA video being developed for Iowa-wide distribution.

National or International Professional Appointments or Activities: Dr. Elvers is a member of the International College of Dentists, the American Dental Education Association, the Iowa Dental Society,  the Academy of General Dentistry, and the American Dental Association.
