Brief Professional Resume:

Dr. Doering joined the faculty of the College of Dentistry in 1974, after two years in the United States Air Force in Tucson, Arizona, and two years in private practice in Denver, Colorado. He left The University of Iowa for two years to serve as the assistant executive director of the California Dental Association. He was vice chairman of the Department of Family Dentistry from 1982-1994, interim head 1994-1996, and director of the Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) program from 1984-1997.

Teaching Activities: Dr. Doering presents various lectures and seminars to senior dental students in addition to clinic supervision in the area of general dentistry, consultations, and case analysis seminars.

Clinical Activities: Dr. Doering participates in the collegiate intramural practice as a general dentist.

Research Activities: Current research interests include various aspects of dentinal bonding, glass ionomer cements, posterior composites, etched porcelain crowns and dentinal hypersensitivity.

National or International Professional Appointments or Activities: ADEX examiner, 2004-present; CRDTS educational advisor, 1988-present; consultant, Council on Dental Education/Commission on Dental Accreditation, American Dental Association; 1989-present: grant reviewer, Committee on Advanced General Dentistry, Department of Health and Human Services; 1989-1996, member/chair, General Dentistry Advisory Committee, Council on Dental Education, American Dental Association.
