Dr. Burton joined The University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 1997. He is professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Teaching Activities: Anesthesia and Pain Control II

Research Activities: Dr. Burton's current research includes evaluating treatment of edentulous upper jaws with an implant-supported prosthesis in patients with poor bone quality.

National or International Professional Appointments or Activities:  Dr. Burton is a reviewer for Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiology, and Endodontics. He is also a reviewer for Journal of Prosthodontics and assistant section editor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Knowledge Update. Dr. Burton is a member of the OMSITE Committee, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and also a member of the Committee on Continuing Education. His professional memberships include the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the International Association of Dental Research, the American Cleft Palate Craniofacial Association, the Academy of Osseointegration, the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, the American Academy of Orofacial Pain, the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, the American Dental Association, the Iowa Dental Association, the University District Dental Society, the Johnson County Dental Society, the American Dental Education Association, and the Iowa Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
