Brief Professional Resume:

Dr. Marek joined the faculty of the College of Dentistry in 1996. She is currently clinical associate professor in the College of Dentistry's Department of Oral Pathology, Radiology & Medicine and also clinical associate professor in the UI College of Pharmacy's Division of Clinical & Administrative Pharmacy. In 2005, Dr. Marek became a Fellow in the American College of Apothecaries.

Teaching Activities: Dr. Marek lectures on a variety of pharmacotherapy topics: antimicrobial prophylaxis, xerostomia, intraoral effects of drugs, antibiotic therapy, etc.

Clinical Activities: Dr. Marek manages the operations of the Dental Pharmacy and provides consultations to faculty and students.

Research Activities: Dr. Marek's research includes formulating alcohol-free chlorhexidine products into gels, aqueous solutions, dentifrices and varnishes; developing and producing innovative drug products and dosage forms for managing head and neck pain syndromes, intra-oral infections and soft tissue disease; and managing oral soft tissue diseases through pharmacotherapeutics.
