
Research at the College of Dentistry
Over the past three decades, the College of Dentistry has emerged as a national leader in dental research. Current research reflects contemporary oral health issues:
- the role of immunity in defending against oral infection;
- craniofacial birth defects;
- the use of fluoride;
- the effects of fluorosis;
- dental implants research from the molecular and cellular levels to the effectiveness of implants in the human patient;
- access to oral health care;
- how tobacco use affects oral health;
- and the dental implications of osteoporosis.
