Brief Professional Resume:
Ms. Skotowski joined the Department of Pediatric Dentistry's faculty in 1989 after serving for
2 1/2 years as a research assistant in the College of Dentistry's Center for Clinical Studies. She is
director of the department's preventive dentistry program.
Teaching Activities
: Ms. Skotowski participates in third-year dental student instruction in the
areas of fluoride and preventive dentistry. She also coordinates community activities, which include
scheduling and supervising dental health presentations and dental screenings for daycare, preschool and
elementary school-aged children. Ms. Skotowski is co-director for two courses: Pediatric Dentistry Diagnosis
and Treatment (90:140) and Public Health Issues in Pediatric Dentistry (90:220).
Clinical Activities
: Ms. Skotowski provides clinical instruction to dental students, which includes fluoride and preventive
procedures. She also helps provide dental hygiene services at the Center for Development and Disabilities as part of the department's Dental
Service Plan.
Research Activities
: Ms. Skotowski's research interests include dental public health, fluorides and the risk factors for dental
fluorosis. She continually updates resources available on pediatric oral health and enjoys speaking to dental groups on oral health materials.
