Assist and work with dentists, graduate students, and dental students within the Periodontics clinic. Duties include chair side dental assisting (including surgical procedures), clinical unit setup and cleanup, assisting and interacting with patients, charting patient records into electronic records system, develop radiographs, and assist with the clinical supplies inventory. Requires: Current certificate of registration to practice as a dental assistant issued by the Iowa Board of Dental Examiners; current Iowa certificate of proficiency in dental radiography; and successful c0mpletion of an ADAA Dental Assistance program or two years of chairside dental assistant experience assisting in four-handed method of dentistry. 100% Revenue Cycle Representative – Dental Patient Business Office - Req #69372
Acts as College of Dentistry Patient Business Office Financial Counselor. Provides financial counseling, collects cash and establishes payment arrangements for the College of Dentistry. Duties include: collects, verifies and registers insurance information into patient accounting system (PAS); submits pre-authorizations to insurance carriers for planned treatment and disseminates results to providers/staff; orients and educates providers and staff re: College of Dentistry and payer specific billing requirements; participates in educational presentations to faculty and students; communicates with providers and clinic administration staff re: discrepancies in billing. Requires: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience; 1 -3 years relevant experience in a medical/dental business office with financial counseling, cash collection, knowledge of insurance claim processing requirements/adjudication experience and strong customer service skills including the following skillsets – Knowledge of Health and/or Dental care reimbursement, Knowledge of Health and/or Dental Claims, and HIPAA-Knowledge and understanding of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. Highly Desirable: Experience w/electronic health record/patient accounting system; and experience in a dental practice.
