100% Clinical Care/Specialized Services Supervisor (Manager, Sterilization Services) – Req #69079
Management responsiblility for the College of Dentistry Instrument Sterilization and Management System, including monitoring decontamination, assembly, sterilization, health and safety testing, inventory, storage and distributions of all dental instruments and supplies used in patient care at five core dental care delivery centers: the College of Dentistry, Center for Disabilities and Development, Muscatine Clinics, Hawkeye Oral Surgery, as well as collegiate outreach programs. This position is responsible for monitoring water delivery system to meet EPA standards. This position has responsibility for administrative supervision of 16 technical staff and student hourly employees servicing 19 dental and specialty clinics, 276 clinical operatories and 14 surgical suites. REQUIRES: Master’s degree in a relevant health science or equivalent field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience; 3 - 5 years of relevant experience, to include the following skillsets - at least 3 years administrative supervisory experience, significant experience with dental or medical Instrument processing, and Sterilization, unit management, etc. DESIRABLE: Experience with OSHA standards and CDC guidelines; Certification/Membership in IAHCCSMM (International Association of Health Care Central Service Materials Management); Membership in OSAP (Organization of Safety and Asepsis Procedures); Experience with management and disposal of hazardous chemicals; Experience with EPA water standards in a healthcare setting; and Knowledge and experience with N2O testing in a healthcare setting. 80% Dental Hygienist – Periodontics – Req #69200
Performs educational, therapeutic, preventive and diagnostic dental hygiene procedues delegated by and under the surpervision of a licensed/permitted dentist. REQUIRES: Bachelor of Science degree with an emphasis in Dental Hygiene or equivalent is required; License to practice dental hygiene in the State of Iowa is required; Local anesthesia permit issued by the State of Iowa is required; Hygienists administering nitrous oxide must meet educational criteria in accordance with the rules of the Iowa Board of Dental Examiners; and Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. DESIRABLE: Proficient working with electronic health records; Periodontal dental hygiene experience; and Experience educating pre-doctoral and post-doctoral dental students regarding the dental hygienist’s role in the dental healthcare team. 80% Dental Assistant II – Periodontics – Req #018463
Assist and work with dentists, graduate students, and dental students within the Periodontics clinic. Duties include chair side dental assisting (including surgical procedures), clinical unit setup and cleanup, assisting and interacting with patients, charting patient records into electronic records system, develop radiographs, and assist with the clinical supplies inventory. Requires: Current certificate of registration to practice as a dental assistant issued by the Iowa Board of Dental Examiners; current Iowa certificate of proficiency in dental radiography; and successful c0mpletion of an ADAA Dental Assistance program or two years of chairside dental assistant experience assisting in four-handed method of dentistry. Desirable: periodontal experience; surgical implant experience; and experience with elderly and medically compromised patients.
