Acts as College of Dentistry Patient Business Office Financial Counselor. Provides financial counseling, collects cash and establishes payment arrangements for the College of Dentistry. Duties include: collects, verifies and registers insurance information into patient accounting system (PAS); submits pre-authorizations to insurance carriers for planned treatment and disseminates results to providers/staff; orients and educates providers and staff re: College of Dentistry and payer specific billing requirements; participates in educational presentations to faculty and students; communicates with providers and clinic administration staff re: discrepancies in billing. Environment – position functions in an open-office environment which may be in close proximity with co-workers. REQUIRES: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience; 1-3 years relevant experience in a medical/dental business office with financial counseling, cash collection, knowledge of insurance claim processing requirements/adjudication experience and strong customer service skills including the following skillsets - KNOWLEDGE OF HEALTH AND/OR DENTAL CARE REIMBURSEMENT – Basic Experience; KNOWLEDGE OF HEALTH AND/OR DENTAL CLAIMS – Basic Experience; and Knowledge and understanding of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act – Working Experience. 60% Clinical Care/Specialty Services Supervisor – Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery – Req #70194
Provide coordination, supervision and direct provision of care to patients undergoing oral surgery procedures at the College of Dentistry and Hawkeye Oral Surgery. This involves working with care providers at various levels of training, including faculty, oral surgery residents and dental students. This position will provide functional supervision and education of support staff and students. Responsibilities also include case planning, coordination and maintenance of all instrumentation, supplies and surgical equipment. REQUIRES: Master’s degree in Nursing, or equivalent combination of relevant education and progressive experience; Current license to practice nursing in Iowa; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. 3 - 5 years directly related clinical experience which includes the following skillsets - Clinical Service/Department (Oral Surgery or related discipline) Operations Management - Working Experience; Planning and Organizing – Extensive Experience; Patient Assessment, Care and Counseling – Extensive Experience; and Health Care Policy and Ethics Compliance – Working Experience. Experience establishing IV access. Experience monitoring surgical patients undergoing procedures utilizing local anesthesia, conscious and deep sedation. Experience monitoring patients during recovery until discharge. Proficiency in electronic health record charting and clinical scheduling software (preferably AxiUm). Desirable: BLS Instructor certification; and Clinical experience with dental implant surgeries and instrumentation. Salary: $38,263 to commensurate. 100% Specialized Care Coordinator-Instructional Resource Associate – Administration – Req #69502
Provide predoctoral students, advanced education residents, and faculty with support in the laboratory related aspects of fixed, removable, and implant prostheses, with special emphasis in the area of computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided (CAM) fabrication. In addition, provide instruction in the CAD/CAM and other related technologies in the classroom, laboratory, and clinic. Requires 5 – 7 years’ experience, including: knowledge and use of current and new dental technologies, including use of computer-aided design and computer-aided machining; knowledge of and ability to operate, calibrate, and maintain dental laboratory equipment; and ability to balance duties related to the Technology Core with support needed for patient care priorities. Additionally, requires certification by the National Board of Certification as a Certified Dental Technician (CDT).
