Dr. Synan joined the College of Dentistry Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 1994. He is currently director of the predoctoral Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic.

Teaching Activities

: Dr. Synan teaches Basic Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery; Clinical Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery; and Pain and Anxiety Control.

Clinical Activities

: Dr. Synan's activities include the undergraduate and graduate clinics and the Dental Implant Clinic.

National or International Professional Appointments and Activities

: Dr. Synan is an ADA accrediation site examiner and an item writer for the OMSITE examination. He is a member of the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) and also the ADEA Liaison Committee. He is past chair and councilor for the ADEA Section on Oral Surgery, Anesthesiology, and Hospital Dentistry, a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS), and an ad hoc member of the AAOMS Faculty Section Committee. He is a member of the American Dental Association. In 2005, Dr. Synan was appointed as a member of the examination committee for the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
