Brief Professional Resume:
Dr. McQuistan joined the College of Dentistry as a visiting professor in 2004 and became an assistant professor
in the Department of Preventive & Community Dentisty in 2005.
Teaching Activities
: Dr. McQuistan teaches primarily third- and fourth-year predoctoral didactic and clinical classes. She
is the course director of the community-based extramural programs and the "Practice of Dentistry in the Community-I." She also
provides clinical teaching in the Special Care Clinic. Dr. McQuistan participates with the graduate curriculum as a guest lecturer.
Clinical Activities
: Dr. McQuistan works in the Special Care Clinic and also in faculty practice.
Research Activities
: Dr. McQuistan is currently involved in two main areas of research: oral health literacy and the
longitudinal outcomes of community-based clinical activities (extramural programs). Her past research has included studying the Iowa
general dentists' referral of children from ages 0-14 to pediatric dentists, and the use of sports sponsorship in tobacco advertising.

Public Health Dentistry, the American Dental Education Association, and Psi Omega.
