Brief Professional Resume:
Dr. Marshall joined the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 1991. She is a registered dietician
and an associate professor in the Department of Preventive and Community Dentistry. In 2010, she was
appointed director of experiential learning.
Teaching Activities:
Dr. Marshall coordinates and teaches the nutrition curriculum within the
College of Dentistry. She also directs the experiential course for first- and second-year dental students.
Research Activities:
Dr. Marshall's research interests focus on nutrition, oral health and systemic
health. Current research efforts include diet, growth, and oral health in young children, as well as nutrition
and oral health in the elderly.
National or International Professional Appointments and Activities:
Dr. Marshall is a member of the
American Dietetic Association, the Iowa Dietetic Association, the Internationa Association for Dental Research,
the American Dental Education Association, and the American Association of Public Health Dentistry. She is past
secretary of the Nutrition Education for Health Professionals practice group, past secretary-treasurer of the
Nutrition Section, and past president of the Iowa Section of the International Association for Dental Research.
She is a reviewer for
